Coach’s Club

Coach’s Club wishes to contribute to society, by helping people of all ages and tones to hear and see each other. Nutrition, Movement, Mindfulness, Compassion Self Awareness, Communication and Systemic Duplication are our core driving forces.  Originally this was a Summer Program in an area with heavy youth and police contacts, led by Program Director Haywood Simmons, Jr. Our summer program is funded partially by the City of Madison Safe & Thriving grant. During our summer program we discovered that there were youth that did not make it to Warner Park, where the program was hosted, and these youth were experiencing dangerous encounters with police and staff at a local McDonald’s. We therefore moved part of our programming to a location next to this McDonald’s to be able to work more directly with these youth.

We are seeking funds to secure healthy organic foods for the remainder of our summer program (food cannot be purchased with the grant funds.) We also wish to provide stipends to youth for assisting us, and gifts cards and gas reimbursement to our adult volunteers. Additional funding and resources will allow us to offer an after-school program and produce marketing materials. Beyond this will be seeking support and grants for our train the trainers program that will train youth and community members in evidence-based facilitation and non violent communication practices. We are recruiting a board of adults and youth. We plan to reimburse the youth with a stipend for their participation
