The Importance of Meeting Check-Ins

At the Center for Community Stewardship, we like to start the meetings we facilitate with a check-in. For smaller groups that work together more, we will often use more personal check-in questions to allow people to share a short summary of what is going on for them in the moment. For groups of people who don’t know each other well, we use a variety of types of check-ins with the goal of: helping people be present, helping shift the mood of a room, or helping people step into a more thoughtful and visionary space. This TIME magazine article gives a good overview of the practice if you would like to learn more.
